HOW TO CONNECT & DISCONNECT UTILITIES

To open an account for water service, please apply before the connection or disconnection date.

Moving into Battleford?

  1. Visit Town Hall: 91 24th Street, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
  2. Pay your Deposit: A deposit of $150 is required for all tenants.
  3. Submit ID: Bring your ID to Town Hall

Applications for connections and transfers must be made in person at Town Hall.  The account holder will be held responsible for all charges up to the date that Town Hall has been notified, or the date that your account is finalized, whichever is later.

Landlords:  to have your tenants set up a utility account in their name, the same as above is required.

Important Note for Landlords: While tenants may have a utility account in their own name, please be advised that under Town policy, the property owner is ultimately responsible for all charges.  If a tenant leaves an unpaid balance, the Town will send the bill to the property owner.  If the account remains unpaid after our standard collection process, the balance will then be transferred to the property's tax roll.

Deposits

An applicable utility deposit is required if the utility account is not in the property owner's name.  Deposits are held until you close your account or disconnect at such time the deposit will be applied to any outstanding balance on your final bill.  If a credit balance remains on your account after final billing, the balance will be refunded to you by cheque.

If you are moving within Battleford, utility account numbers do not transfer from one address to another. A new utility account number will be provided to you on your first utility bill at the new location.  Please be sure to update this information with your bank if you pay for your utilities online or telephone banking to avoid utility disruptions.
