3rd Avenue Crescent Infrastructure Upgrades

The Town of Battleford is launching a comprehensive water and sewer replacement project along 3rd Avenue Crescent.

🟢 CURRENT UPDATE: August 17, 2026

Crews are continuing work on the 3rd Avenue Crescent Underground Utilities & Surface Works Reconstruction project.

Current Work & Next Steps:

  • Water & Sewer Replacement: Crews will be digging and starting underground water and sewer main replacement specifically along 19th Street to 20th Street.

  • Traffic & Access: Road closures and local traffic detours remain in effect around the active construction zones. Please exercise caution, watch for workers, and obey all posted signage and barricades.



August 10, 2026

Contractors will be onsite this week to begin excavating.

  • Local traffic and parking will be restricted
  • Loose bagged garbage will be picked up behind the residences affected during this upgrade.
  • Compost will be picked Mondays by calling the Town to schedule a pick up.

July 27, 2026

  • Boil Water Advisory Lifted: The Drinking Water Advisory for the 200 blocks of 18th, 19th, and 20th Streets, as well as portions of 3rd Avenue Crescent, has been officially rescinded. Water is safe for normal use.
  • Upcoming Work on 3rd Avenue Crescent: Construction and infrastructure work on 3rd Avenue Crescent is scheduled to begin August 10. Motorists and residents are asked to use caution in the area.


July 20, 2026

  • On the Ground: Hydrant and valve replacement on the 200 Block of 20th Street West commences today, July 20, 2026. Active construction will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Work is expected to last roughly one day, weather permitting.

  • Water Hookups & Disruptions: Affected residents will be entirely without water for the day while replacements are underway. Temporary water service interruptions will impact:

    • 252 – 296 of 20th Street West

    • 301, 311, and 321 of 21st Street West (only)

  • Traffic & Access Impact: Expect increased construction activity, high noise levels, temporary traffic disruptions, and limited access near the immediate work area.

⚠️ Precautionary Boil Water Advisory (PBWA) Once water service is restored, properties at 252–296 20th Street West and 301, 311, 321 21st Street West will be placed under a PBWA.

The advisory will remain in effect until the Saskatchewan Health Authority laboratory returns satisfactory test results from collected samples. Residents will be directly notified as soon as the advisory is officially lifted.

 

July 16, 2026

The Town of Battleford would like to advise residents that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the planned hydrant and valve replacement on the 200 Block of 19th Street West has been rescheduled.

Work Area

Construction activities will take place on:

  • 200 Block of 19th Street West

ยท         Date: Monday, July 20, 2026; Time: Beginning at approximately 7:30 a.m.

Residents in the following areas will be subject to a temporary water service interruption while this work is being completed:

  • 200 Block of 18th Street West
  • 200 Block of 19th Street West
  • 301–333 3rd Avenue Crescent

The work is expected to last approximately one day (weather permitting).

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory (PBWA)

Once the work has been completed and water service has been restored, residents on the 200 Block of 18th Street West, 200 Block of 19th Street West, 301 to 333 of 3rd Avenue Crescent, will be placed under a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory (PBWA).


Week of July 13 – July 17, 2026

Work Area & Impacts

  • Location: 200 Block of 19th Street West
  • Work Includes: Valve and hydrant replacements, and underground infrastructure work.
  • Expect: Increased noise, traffic disruptions, temporary access restrictions, and short-term water interruptions (advance notice will be provided).

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory (PBWA)

Once water service is restored, the 200 block of 19th Street only will be placed under a PBWA.

The advisory will remain in effect until Saskatchewan Health Authority lab tests confirm the water is safe. Residents will be notified as soon as it is officially lifted.

Week of July 6 – July 10, 2026

  • On the Ground: Site mobilization is underway. Crews are currently arriving on-site with heavy machinery and replacing main valves.

  • Water Hookups: Installation of the temporary overland water line is actively being laid out.

  • Traffic Impact: 3rd Avenue Crescent is experiencing temporary lane restrictions and rolling closures between 19th and 21st Street. Commuters are advised to use alternate routes.

  • Waste Collection: Standard pickup is currently running. Residents facing direct blockages will receive direct notice regarding modified bin placement.

July 6 – July 10

Crews arrive on site, begin valve replacements, and install the temporary overland water system.

  • Water & Sewer Replacements (20th St to 19th St)
July 13 – July 31

Deep utility excavation, main replacements, services, and stubs begin from 20th Street to 19th Street.

  • Main Work Moves (20th St to 21st St)
Aug 4 – Aug 21

Water and sewer replacements move from 20th Street to 21st Street. Road base work begins from 19th Street to 20th Street.

  • Main Work Moves (21st St to 3rd Ave)
Aug 24 – Sept 11

Water and sewer replacements move from 21st Street to 3rd Avenue. Road base work shifts from 20th Street to 21st Street.

  • Testing & Switching Off Temporary Water
Sept 14 – Sept 18

Final block road base work, watermain testing, camera inspections, and the removal of all temporary water lines.

  • Surface Rebuilding & Paving
Sept 21 – Oct 15

Curb installation, sidewalk/pathway reconstruction, and final road paving.

  • Final Site Cleanup
Oct 19 – Oct 23

Demobilization and final site cleanup.
