Designated a National Historic Site in 1923, Fort
Battleford was the fifth North West Mounted Police (NWMP) Post on the Prairies,
built in 1876. Uncover the central but little-known role of Fort
Battleford in the Conflict of 1885. Discover the stories of the First Nations,
Métis, North West Mounted Police, and settlers in these difficult times. Visit
five original NWMP buildings in and around the fort.
2021 Season Update: Visitors to the site will be able to visit the grounds inside and outside the fort, and will have access to a self-guided tour. Personal interpretation and visits inside the historic buildings will not be available in 2021. Admission fees will not be charged.
