Keeping Our Streets Safe: Snow Removal Challenges & How You Can Help

We're committed to keeping our streets safe and accessible during the winter season. However, the recent heavy snowfall or icy conditions have presented unique challenges.
Here's what you need to know:

Last updated: Thursday, February 13th, 2025

Current Challenges:
  • Weather Impact: Light snowfall
  • Resources in Action: Town crews have been out grading snow and ice on the local streets to improve mobility.
  • Prioritization of Routes: Our focus is on main roads, emergency routes, and high-traffic areas before residential streets.

What to Expect:
  • Crews are currently working on:
Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 9:00 am, all avenues and hills are completed for snow removal.  Sidewalks and trails have also been cleared as of yesterday. Today/Tomorrow town crews will be clearing the cul-de-sacs starting on the north end of town and continuing to Battle West and Battle Springs.
  • Estimated Timeframes: Continuation of monitoring, blading, and sanding as needed.
  • Reminder:  Operators will go around vehicles where possible, however, some streets will be skipped and returned to later as street parking prohibits access.  The Town encourages people to move vehicles off the street after a snowfall.  Snow and ice will be stored in parking areas where available.
  • Live Updates: Check back to this page for progress and updates.

How You Can Help:
  1. Follow Parking Restrictions: Remove vehicles from streets marked for snow removal.
  2. Give Road Equipment Space: Please give road equipment the space they need to operate, signaled by their blue and amber flashing lights.
  3. Clear Sidewalks: Help neighbours and those in need by clearing sidewalks near your property.
  4. Stay Informed: Follow Town of Battleford on Facebook page to get all the latest major updates and come back to this page for all updates.
Thank you for Your Patience:
We understand the frustration that winter weather can bring, and we're working tirelessly to serve you. Your cooperation help us make progress faster and more efficiently.
